Check out all of Cars 3's latest news tidbits after the break!

CARS 3 'Extended Look:'

Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez, with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!

Cars 3 is directed by Brian Fee (storyboard artist “Cars,” “Cars 2“) and produced by Kevin Reher (“A Bug’s Life,” “La Luna” short).
What's most exciting about this new look at the upcoming sequel is the dubbing of Doc Hudson's voice over sequences of races that Lighting takes part in during the course of the film. This possibly indicates that there may be some flash-back sequences with Lightning and Doc, who had previously been Lightning's biggest racing inspiration and coach during the first Cars film. John Lasseter had even mentioned that Doc Hudson's passing and inspiration would heavily influence the actions that Lightning takes in Cars 3; the film's story seems to be more grounded in the personal journey of rediscovering Lightning's love for the sport.

CARS 3 Casting Announcement:

The second sequel in the Cars franchise will be adding fresh new voice talent to the storied Cars world. Kerry Washington (Scandal), Nathan Fillion (Castle), and Lea DeLaria (Orange is the New Black) will all lend their voices to new characters Natalie Certain, Sterling, and Miss Fritter, respectively. Check out our first looks and character descriptions of the three new cast members:
Kerry Washington, Nathan Fillion, and Lea DeLaria will join other new cast members Armie Hammer (Jackson Storm) and Cristela Alonzo (Cruz Ramirez) along with returning cast members Owen Wilson (Lightning McQueen), Larry the Cable Guy (Tow Mater), and the rest of our friends from Radiator Springs in Pixar's next feature.

Cars 3 races to theaters on June 16th!
