Following the release of Coco's teaser trailer earlier this week, there has been a rejuvenated excitement for original projects across Pixar fandom. One of the most exciting aspects of reporting on Pixar news is seeing new footage of an upcoming film for the very first time. Pixar prides itself on growing wholly original film ideas in-house, without hiring outsider talent to jump start new projects. This past week, several very exciting Pixar-related developments have stuck out in a slow early-October news cycle. Possibly the most exciting is that just today Finding Dory officially crossed the $1 Billion Worldwide Box Office gross, becoming the second Pixar feature to claim the title (Toy Story 3 being the first)! In addition, Director Dave Mullins debuted a sneak peak at Pixar's next short film titled "LOU" and will debut with Cars 3 in Summer 2017! Finally, Disney-Pixar collaborated with Vans to create a Toy Story Vans Collection, complete with Woody and Buzz themed shoes and merchandise! During tonight's exciting 88th Academy Awards ceremony, Pixar Animation Studios' Inside Out brought home Oscar gold, winning the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Sporting a prestigious Best Original Screenplay nomination (acknowledging the amazing work done by screenwriters Pete Docter, Meg LeFauve, Josh Cooley, and Ronnie Del Carmen) and a Best Animated Short Film nomination for Sanjay's Super Team (directed by Sanjay Patel), the team of wonderfully creative and talented artists at the studio's Emeryville headquarters should be incredibly proud of the honorable work put into all of last years films! The official Academy Award Nominations for the 2016 Oscars are out and Pixar struck gold this year with 3 nominations- Inside Out for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Screenplay and Sanjay's Super Team for Best Animated Short Film! Following Inside Out's Golden Globe win for Best Animated Feature, director Pete Docter and producer Jonas Rivera and co. should be incredibly proud of their work garnering top honors in the season's awards circuit, especially grabbing a screenplay nomination.
