As my final order of The Art of Inside Out came yesterday, after a longed awaited arrival starting from a damaged shipment, I was curious about an details concerning the second "art of" book coming from Pixar for 2015, that being The Art of THE GOOD DINOSAUR. Luckily, I found an interesting image online of the preliminary cover for the book. However, more can be found in the image than just for 'The Good Dino'. Check out the cover for The Art of THE GOOD DINOSAUR as well as more details concerning other art books coming from Pixar this year all after the break! The cover for the book may very well be a preliminary version, as many Pixar art books revealed at this stage in the film's development change over the course of time leading up to the film's release. With that said, the art featured on the front is clearly stunning, especially since it not only features the world of the film but also our main character, Arlo. This specific piece is interestingly the second piece of concept art that we received all the way back in December 2012. It also looks like, per usual, we will be getting foreword by Pixar Creative Chief Officer John Lasseter with an introduction by the film's Director, Peter Sohn. However, the above picture is a cropped version on the image I found. Here is the full image: Now the reason why this above image is so exciting is in the books to the left and right of The Art of TGD. The book pictured on the left is entitled "Funny!: Twenty-Five Years in the Pixar Story Room," and it looks at unused storyboards of all of Pxar's films (from Toy Story all the way to The Good Dinosaur) and looks to be a true treasure for any Pixar fan. You can pre-order the book here: Funny!: Twenty-Five Years in the Pixar Story Room Amazon Pre-Order! The book to the right was much harder to analyze. However, once I zoomed in on the blurry image onto the spine, it vaguely read The Art of Sanjay's Super team. If you are not already familiar with that title, Sanjay's Super Team is in the fact the new Pixar short film that will be premiering before The Good Dinosaur on November 25th, 2015. The prospect of Pixar making 'art of' books for their short films is very exciting. Although the films are obviously not as long as their feature films, there is no doubt that Pixar shorts take just as much, creativity, ingenuity, and love as their other films. Starting a new series of art books for their short films seems like the natural progression that should be taken to highlight the work that Pixar artists put into all of their films. The next question that comes to mind if in fact a new art book series begins is whether or not new books for previous Pixar shorts will be made. I sure hope that they do because I will definitely be the first in line! UPDATE: 6-6-15 The book to the right of The Art of The Good Dinosaur is in fact The Art of Sanjay's Super Team. A new image has surfaced online, via Pixar Brasil Blog, featuring the full cover of the art book. The cover features a never-before-seen piece of concept art as well as the official logo for the short film. I would also like to note that the book will be 128 pages long, with a preface by John Lasseter and an introduction by the short film's first time director, Sanjay Patel. The book will be made available in stores in December 2015!
