It is typical especially for animated films to have running titles that are set to be changed (due to the extended amount of time it takes to produce a feature film). In The Good Dinosaur's case, however, this now has meant three logo design changes. With that said, the logo seen below is, as of yesterday afternoon, the updated official logo for The Good Dinosaur's November 25th, 2015 release. Find out more about the history of the film's logo design changes after the break! Back when the film was originally announced, the director and producer of the untitled film revealed the following logo to audiences at the D23 expo in Anaheim. Granted, this design was supposed to be a joke, but fans, including myself, stuck to it and used it as the "unofficial" official title, if that makes any sense. Once "The Untitled Pixar Movie About Dinosaurs" was titled as "The Good Dinosaur," some fans took the design a step further, using photoshop, to create this: Nevertheless, the official 2013 logo for the film finally rolled out online, but did not make any headlines simply because there was no press release. I remember when I first found it thinking that it was fan made just because no one had talked about or even noticed it: Quite frankly, I really liked this design. All though it's a bit clunky and not streamline, it somehow evokes that sort of tone that one would expect from a Pixar 'Dino' flick. However, I understand why the design was nixed. When as high profile of a film as The Good Dinosaur begins the publicity/marketing/franchising campaign, the logo becomes the selling point. When you have a potential franchise in a new property, making sure the logo can be merchandized becomes one of the main focuses. And hence we get the new official logo for the film which does just that: keeps the same feel and tone, but streamlines the design to be more marketable: This is a perfect design: it is a representation of the new direction that the troubled production of this film has gone through. It represents director Peter Sohn's new story path while still respecting the original key ideas that green-light the production in the first place. I hope you love the updated official logo for Pixar's second 2015 release of The Good Dinosaur just as much as I do!
